Fire Number Signs:
To request a fire number sign, aka your address, contact the Adams County Treasurer’s office at (608) 339-4202. There is a form that needs to be filled out by the property owner and a copy of your Driveway Permit needs to be sent to the Adams County Treasurer’s Office. Please see Driveway Permits below. The Town will be notified of your new address and the Adams County Highway Department will order and install your fire number, as well as taking care of notifying Digger’s Hotline. The cost for the sign will be added to your property tax bill, which will arrive in December.
Your fire number sign is your lifeline in the event of an emergency! Please make sure it is visible from both sides of your driveway!
Driveway Permits:
Driveway permits are issued by the Town of Dell Prairie and need to be viewed by a road crew staff member. Please contact the Clerk at (608) 432-4375 or (608) 678-7303 to start the process.
Safety Reminders…
- Be sure your fire number is visible on both sides and not obstructed by tree branches, bushes or mailboxes. Your driveway needs to be accessible by all emergency vehicles and postal services. YOUR VISIBLE FIRE NUMBER IS YOUR LIFELINE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
- Do not plow snow from your driveway into the roadway!!! It is a state law and causes driving hazards for other drivers.
- Call Digger’s Hotline before you dig! Dial 811
- Burning permits: dnr.wi.gov and SEARCH burn permit. Once a person has obtained a permit, it is their responsibility to check burning restrictions, after 9 am, on any day they wish to burn. Cooking and warming fires do not require a permit, but be aware of weather conditions and completely extinguish the fire before you leave it!!!
- Sign up for Nixle emergency notifications by going to the Adams County website and click on “Nixle Emergency Alerts”.
